(Dearest Molly wrote) ôYou have no idea. There are several solutions to run through a blockade with a Bestower. Just ask Jade Constantine from Jericho, she knows how to do it.ö
Why thank you mÆdear, most kind words and truth besides, there are ways and means but no simple 100% efficacious route, and as in all parts of life, cunning and good sense are vital foundations.
It is becoming more difficult though I must admit, the last couple of Space Invader/Venal alliance blockades I ran included battleships, and the level of armament mounted is capable of seriously damaging even a fast bestower. I suspect the day will come when I am faced with a blockade I cannot bypass conventionally and then one suspects; evolution, adaptation, and extreme measures will be the order of the day.
I would like to make a general comment on the temper of these traders vs pirates debates and discussions however; akin to outright war it seems, the first casualty of ranting is truth. There are too many absolutist viewpoints hurled around with *** abandon, too many generalisations and too much thoughtless demonising routinely employed.
From my perspective the spectre of the ôgrieferö, the ôcamperö, the ôcowardly piratesö, the ôafk traderö, the ôcarebearö etc etc is something too liberally summoned to substitute for clarity of thinking and debate.
As for the type of pirate Setec is, well doh! The answer is in the signature, he styles himself a highwayman, and by charm and clever wit hopes to escape the worst of societies revenge. There is ample background in the literature of our ancient forebears to support the clarity and foresighted vision of this path; by being amusing dear Setec is making himself a figure of bittersweet acclaim, a rogue with a heart of gold, a villain who will not kill mindlessly, and whoÆs attention is something of excitement and perilous zest. At the least this reputation is useful in that victims expect mercy after fleecing, and expecting such, are less inclined to fight or flee.
We all have archetypes we strive to embody; pirates and illegals are no different from individualists and trader captains and bold frontiersmen in that, - ætis the mask that makes us real, and the game that adds spice to lifeÆs rich adventure.
What I most object too in life is falsehood and self delusion; why expect reality to conform to values which may not be policed beyond your own thoughts and fresh desires?
The pirates will strike and run if met with adequate force. The traders will choose to pay or laugh derision at foolish costs.
From certain perspectives both paths take courage;
To demand another aspiration be subordinate to oneÆs one judgement of moral certitude is tyranny in the purest form, and that crime my friend, I shall answer with a bullet to the brain given half a chance!
